HFJ - No.180 - Deer Season 2018 Start NOW!
on Thursday, June 7 2018

Welcome to the 2018 deer season! Does it seem early for this show? Well, for some it will but let me paint this picture. How much do you really enjoy going to the woods in September just before opening day and having to deal with all the weeds - weeds that are 5 feet high with thick stocks and need to be trimmed out. Then after making all the racket in the woods and telling every deer you're there, you get to your stand and find a large tree fell back in the summer and broke your stand, cleaning off licking branches and covering 2 of your most productive scrapes! Now you have a weeks worth of work that needs to be done and it's sure to make every deer in the woods want to be there on opening day-NOT! In this show, we talk about what you need to be doing now, so this year you can be relaxed on the day you go to the woods with out having regret. We'll also go over the up coming Rut Functional Workshop to be held at The First Church of the Nazarene 201 East Lexington Rd Eaton, Ohio 45320 July 7th from 9:00am to 4:00 pm Donuts, Lunch and Refreshments are provided. These wonderful bronze back fish are sought out all over the US and Canada, Smallmouth are found in the rivers and streams as well as the lakes and reservoirs, preferring clean clear water, rocky or sandy bottoms and cooler water temperatures. If you seek a real fighter that loves breaking the surface of the water, runs hard, can be fished for with live bait and soft or hard lures, then smallmouths bass may just be the fish for you. No matter the fishing style, from a boat or wading the streams, your sure to have an enjoyable experience!

HFJ - No.178 - Curt Compton Crappie Fishing
on Thursday, May 3 2018

Curt Compton is a friend of Al and Ron Lindner of Lindner's Angling Edge. Curt is a knowledgeable fishermen with years of experience and was recommended to us by Ron Lindner during a conversation about crappie. In this show Curt gives insight on what to look for in temperatures, structure, lure type or bait, color and presentation. I feel that many fishermen are not as successful as they could be for lack of implementing the basics, and by that i mean, seeking out the correct temperatures, depth, bait and structure that the fish you seek prefers. In this show as in most shows we do on fishing, one of the most important things to look for is the temperature. Almost always in every fishing show, the first item of business is the temperature.  Curt gives great instruction on these basics, things that every successful crappie fisherman should know. Thank you Curt Compton for the time to do this show!!
